Decentralised Coordination of Web Services for B2B Integration
نویسندگان
چکیده
Web Services technology is becoming the de-facto standard for integration of legacy applications within an organisation and for cross organisation enterprise application integration (B2BEAI). Much work has gone into specifying Web Services functionality using workflow like techniques (BPEL4WS, WSCI, WSFL, XLANG) and production of software to enact such descriptions. However, most of this software relies on one central server to enact the workflow which may be a performance bottleneck when the server is under high load. In this paper we outline a workflow specification language and present a sample implementation of a workflow engine which allows distributed enactment of workflows. Distributed enactment removes this potential bottleneck and can also reduce data transfer. We also describe how the workflow engine promotes message based integration, simplifying the problem of application integration across organisational boundaries.

Understanding the manifold forms of B2B integration - A transaction cost perspective
The need for collaboration within value chains is rapidly increasing and drives enterprise to align and electronically integrate their business processes with their business partners. As technologies evolve, manifold forms of B2B integration have emerged – from e-mail communication to customer or supplier portals, the exchange of EDIFACTto XML documents, and Web Services. Although serviceorient...
متن کاملAn Event-Based Model for Web Services Coordination
The promise of Web services is centered around standard and interoperable means for integrating loosely coupled Web based components that expose well-defined interfaces, while abstracting the implementation and platform specific details. The current and more mature core Web services standards SOAP, WSDL and UDDI provide a solid foundation to accomplish this. However, these specifications primar...
متن کاملDynamic B2B Integration on the Semantic Web Services: SWS Challenge Phase 2
In this paper we present how Semantic Web Service technology can be used to overcome process and data heterogeneity in a B2B integration scenario. While one partner uses RosettaNet for message exchange process and message definition, the other one operates on a proprietary solution based on a combination of WSDL and XML Schema. For this scenario we show the benefits of semantic descriptions whi...
متن کاملFrom Marketplaces to Web Services
To enable intraand inter-enterprise application integration, enterprises have invested heavily in EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) and B2B (Business to Business) technologies. However, the first generation B2B technologies, represented by the Marketplace platform and its associated tools and applications offered in the mid to late 1990s, have left much to be desired. Recent momentum in ...
متن کاملDifferent Types of Business-to-Business Integration: Extended Enterprise Integration vs. Market B2B Integration
In this chapter we argue that there exist two basic forms of business-to-business integration (B2Bi), namely extended enterprise integration and market B2Bi. This chapter clarifies the meaning of both concepts, shows that the difference between both is fundamental, and discusses the consequences of the difference in the realm of Web services development. The importance of coordination and the r...
